Deborah Metzger – Dining Services Director, Executive Chef
Dining Services Director and Executive Chef Deborah Metzger leads our innovative culinary team at Legacy at Fairways and knows how food connects people and brings them together. With more than 20 years of experience in senior living dining, Chef Debbie continues her passion for fresh concepts and flavors, mixing upscale selections and comfort food favorites, and she enjoys sharing it with residents, their families and associates here at our community.
Raised in a close-knit Italian family, Chef Debbie learned about the strong connection between family and food at a very young age. Her passion for cooking came from watching her grandmother in the kitchen, and food always played a central role in family gatherings. Chef Debbie continues to keep her grandmother’s cooking and traditions alive, and she keeps her family — and our residents — eating well.
Chef Debbie earned a Bachelor of Science in food service administration from Mansfield University before continuing on to other culinary adventures in the restaurant business for several years. She also enjoys preparing food because it is relaxing: “I always say I am most comfortable when I have a knife in my hand. Cooking soothes me and is something I enjoy immensely.”
Dedicated to offering variety and keeping the menu enticing, Chef Debbie and her team provide residents with a healthy option that’s different every week. With a Clam Bake and Pig Roast under her belt, she’s always looking for new cuisine options that will soothe everyone’s palate. She has led the dining team’s effort to move to restaurant-style service and a new menu that features eight regular dishes in addition to two daily specials and a Catch of the Day option.
A seasoned talent with extensive experience in the culinary arena, Chef Debbie is committed to delivering great, flavor-rich food and unparalleled service to the residents, families and guests of Legacy at Fairways.
